Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku has scored his first goal in Serie A since returning from injury, helping the team to a 1-0 win over Udinese on Saturday.

The Belgian international had been out of action since early January due to a knee problem and was delighted with his return to form after netting the only goal of the match against Udinese.

"It's great to get back into the game," he said. "It's been a long time coming but I'm happy to be back."

Lukaku's goal came just before half-time when he took advantage of a defensive error by Udinese to slot home a low shot past goalkeeper Daniele Rugani.

The victory means that Inter Milan remain top of the table in Serie A, although they have now conceded two goals in their last three matches.

"We need to stay focused and keep working hard," said Lukaku. "We have to continue to improve our performance and score more goals."

Lukaku has scored six goals in his last eight appearances for Inter Milan and is hoping to help them reach the Europa League quarter-finals,Serie A Observation where they will face Sevilla next month.

He also expressed his delight at the prospect of playing in Europe again, saying: "I'm very excited about it. It's always good to play in Europe and it's something I've missed a lot."

Overall, it was a positive start for Inter Milan as they look to maintain their title challenge in Serie A this season. With Lukaku firing on all cylinders once again, there is every chance that they can push on and claim another trophy this campaign.
